An author I've just discovered
I'm on my third book in less than 3 weeks by an author I found on Amazon.com: Deborah Raney. The first book I read, A Vow to Cherish, appealed to me because it was about a middle-aged couple dealing with the wife getting early Alzheimers'. You don't expect couples that age having to face this particular dilemma. Very good, with an ending that shows that God blesses you when you do the right thing. (That's all I'll say for now!) The second book I just finished yesterday: Beneath a Southern Sky, which also deals with a couple facing an unfathomable situation, way more difficult than Alzheimers' could ever be. The story has an ending that makes you marvel at how people can look beyond their earthly desires and see things from God's point of view. Very inspiring; the kind of ending that can change the reader. (My advice is to not read the book jacket before you read the book, because they give away too much information there!) I just began the third book today: After the Rains, and although I've just started I can tell by the title itself that someone will be dealing with a tragedy and Raney will demonstrate how God does turn ashes into beauty.
