One tv show vs another

After thorough review, I prefer Funniest Pets and People to American's Funniest Home Videos. Why, because, it's well, funnier! On top of that, I don't wonder so often when watching Funniest Pets and People whether the person/pet in the video survived the incident.

Don't get me wrong, I watch AFV often, and laugh out loud! But I do wonder sometimes if there are any deaths that occurred that the videos don't reveal.

Which show do you prefer? Or, do you have another show that's even funnier than Funniest Pets and People?

Diminished Capacity

I'm watching Diminished Capacity with Alan Alda and Matthew Broderick on Comcast right now. They both have diminished capacity, one because of Alzheimers' and the other because of a recent concussion. So far, only 15 minutes into the movie, you can already tell that it's going to be an adventure!

Alan Alda is a classic... and Matthew Broderick is one of my faves too. You can read about the other characters here: http://www.imdb.com/title/tt1007950/

What happened?

What happened tonight? Jeopardy and Wheel of Fortune swapped time slots! And Password didn't come on? Jeopardy is my favorite show, and I was waiting all day for Password!

Keeping the Faith

We rented Keeping the Faith last night and really enjoyed it! It came out in 2000 and has Edward Norton and Ben Stiller as a priest and rabbi respectively who fall for their childhood friend when she comes to town on work. It's funny and sweet and you won't know how it ends until it ends!

Another good line

As Good as It Gets is one of my favorite movies. I just watched the last 20 minutes or so and caught a good one-liner: "I'm drowning, and you're describing the water." Melvin says this to Simon when tormented about whether or not to risk it all and pay a late-night visit to Carol to declare his love for her.

That's a good line!

No Country For Old Men

We rented No Country For Old Men last night and watched. It's the type of violent movie that you glues you to it from the first blatantly-bloody scene not 3 minutes into the movie to the last murder which left a lot to your imagination. (I guess they'd run out of ketchup by that last killing!)  Let me just say that the movie could have just as well been entitled There Will be Blood, because there was enough blood shed in No Country to stock a local Red Cross agency. Would I recommend it? Yeah... there was a lot of good acting and to know that in real life the actor who plays the evil murderer is a sweety-pie from somewhere in Spain does sort of redeem him!

The Bank Job

We saw The Bank Job yesterday, a movie based on a true story from the early 70's of a hand full of amateur bank robbers who actually drill their way into a British bank's safe and steal a bunch of stuff, including photographs of some very telling escapades of British royalty. And that's not the half of it: there was a lot more sin in them-thar safety deposit boxes! In fact, the trailer says that the thieves were among the most innocent people involved.  The Bank Job is suspenseful, comical, complex. I can't say that I caught every sub-plot detail or even main-plot one for that matter... but if you like the combination of British humor, non-professional thieves, 1970's fashion, and the demise of a an evil blackmailer, then go see The Bank Job, or at least catch it when it comes out on Comcast on Demand.

24

Has anyone heard when the season premier of 24 is scheduled? It's been one of the highlights of January for me the past few years.

The Bucket List

We saw The Bucket List yesterday. I was expecting a comedy, however, it was much more of a drama with comic undertones. Don't let the drama turn you off: it's an awesome movie! Two guys - one married with a devoted family, the other rich as sin - have cancer and less than a year to live. They get fed up with their diagnosis and decide to go out and fulfill some dreams. While doing so, half way round the world, they find out what's really important in life.

Jack Nicholson and Morgan Freeman, two of my favorite actors play the men. The hospital scenes are some of the best in the movie in terms of dialogue. However, the "bucket" scenes are pretty fantastic too: sky diving, race car driving, private jets, pyramids, mountains and Hong Kong.

I liked the ending! It's hard to say more without giving it away. I'll simply say that The Bucket List comes full circle in many, many ways and reminds us that in dying sometimes we learn what it means to live.
